Traveling can be so much fun but, for the ladies, it means packing a lot of extra equipment if we are to maintain that “put together look” throughout the entire vacation. The first, and probably the most important piece of equipment for the ladies to pack would be a travel hair dryer.
Wherever you decide to spend your vacation, on the beach, in a fancy motel, or at Aunt Martha’s, you are going to need a travel hair dryer. This is essential if you are a, shampoo everyday type of person.
Let’s look at some differences between the everyday full size dryer and the travel hair dryer.
Do I Really Need My Own Travel Hair Dryer?
If you are going to be visiting at a high-end hotel, you probably won’t need to take your dryer as that is a part of the accommodations they offer their guests.
The dryers are not always the cream of the crop so if you have special needs for your hair, if it is dry or damaged from styling tools or bleaching, I would suggest you take your own personal travel hair dryer.
The blow dryers that hotels offer are usually cheap with low voltage, but the temperature will run hot and can cause more damage to your hair.
If you don’t have any problems with your hair, you could survive a week with a cheap hotel dryer but still pack your heat protectant!
I have researched and reviewed dozens of travel hair dryers and have come up with 7 of the best that would be perfect for you to take on your vacation.
Travel Blow-Dryer Buying Factors
The Size, Weight, and Cord Of Travel Blow Dryers
The first requirement, for obvious reasons, is the size of the dryer. The travel hair dryer will be smaller in size and lighter in weight. You will want it to fit nicely in a small area of your luggage as space is money when you travel as far as your luggage is concerned.
You will find that most compact dryers will have a folding handle which will also aid in the space needed for packing requirement. Some models will have a retractable cord which is great addition.
If they don’t have a retractable cord, take the time to secure the cord with a zip tie or twisty to keep it neat and tidy and to prevent any damage to the cord.
Necessary Voltage Requirements For Travel Blow Dryer
If you are going to be traveling out of the country, your voltage and plugins are going to be a concern for you. Other countries have different plugins and different amounts of voltage that are used for such equipment. To learn more about plug adapters and power converters click here.
The manufacturer of your travel hair dryer should have that information in the users’ guide and if they don’t, I’m sure you can find the information online or a you can contact the company's customer service to answer any questions you might have.
Some of the travel hair dryers in this review have both 120/240 voltage for overseas travel, so make sure you pack an adapter. As far as watts are concerned, they will range from 1000 up to 1875 which is comparable to your stay at home dryer.
